In May of 2012 a new patient came in because of neck pain and headaches. On the "symptom history sheet" she indicated that she had been under psychiatric care. When I asked her about it she said that she "had had" OCD (she showered 6 times a day). She told me that she had been on medication but that it didn't work that great and she didn't like the side-effects. One day she was researching OCD online and found out that eliminating meat and dairy from the diet can help, so she changed her diet and her OCD went away. She had been off her medication for 6 months and hadn't had any OCD symptoms. I informed her that I did an allergy treatment based on acupuncture and if it worked she could return to having dairy and meat without any OCD symptoms. She declined the treatment saying that she thought she was healthier with her new diet. About three months later she came into the clinic looking like she hadn't slept in a week. I asked her what the problem was and she said that her B12 and iron levels had bottomed out and she had no energy because of her no meat and dairy diet, and that if she ate meat or dairy her OCD would return. I performed just one treatment on her for dairy and meat. Four months later she came into the clinic to be adjusted and she reported that the allergy treatment had worked great, she could have meat or dairy without any OCD problems and that her energy had returned. I have seen allergy treatments help with depression, OCD and behavioral problems.
